Q1 :What’s the differences between KWYA and other international schools in Kunming?
A:

KWYA is an authorized IB World school by the International Baccalaureate Organization, which means that we are allowed to offer Diploma Program courses. The Diploma Program courses are rigorous and require students to carefully monitor their academic progress while developing their unique individual abilities. In addition, KYWA is a private, non-profit school offering international courses. It was founded by educators with a deep understanding of pedagogy rather than entrepreneurs focused solely on profits. We strive to build a caring school community and expand it to the local community, living and learning as a family does.



Q2 :Who governs KWYA in Kunming?
A:

Kunming World Youth Academy was established by Kunming Municipal Bureau of Education, the Peoples government of Chenggong district and Beijing World Youth Academy (BWYA). BWYA has successfully implemented the IB Program for over 18 years, has a good reputation, and is also known as a domestic IB courses leading school. BWYA shares rich teaching experiences, management experiences, and excellent teaching resources with KWYA. KYWA was authorized to become a fully accredited IB world school by the IBO in March, 2019.


Q3 :Which areas or regions does KWYA recruit students?
A:

KWYA is open to students from all over the country. Students of Chinese or foreign nationalities can register.

Q4 :What are the requirements for applying to KWYA?
A:

       Applicants need to take entrance exams in both English and Chinese. Writing tests are in Chinese or English while interviews are in English. We learn about the English level of applicants and whether they are able to complete our courses in English. In addition, we interview parents in order to further determine their understanding of international education. Foreign students need to take math and English proficiency tests in English so as to help us accurately assign.


Q5 :How can students of non-international schools adapt to the bilingual teaching environment of KWYA as soon as possible?
A:

 Our school provides ESL courses, implement layered teaching, help students improve their level of English and their ability to learn other courses in English after enrollment. Additionally, in accordance to the specific needs of students, we supplement lessons in English and Chinese in order to help students adapt to the international education environment quickly.

Q6 :What are IB programme? Which countries and regions are they used? What schools can students apply to after studying this program?
A:

The IB Programme, fully known as the International Baccalaureate, is registered and approved by UNESCO and is offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for elementary, middle, and high school education. It aims to develop a series of standardized, challenging and rigorously accredited international programs. They include the Primary Years Program (Grades 1-5), Middle Years Program (Grades 6-10) and Diploma Program (Grades 11-12).  The Diploma Program is a challenging and rigorous series of advanced coursework with consistent evaluation criteria. It is used countless international schools around the world and is widely recognized by universities worldwide. Top ranked universities such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cambridge and Oxford, regard the IB as the most valuable high school diploma. Students can apply to more than 5,000 universities in 147 countries, such as the United States, Australia, Canada, Britain, Singapore, the Netherlands and New Zealand on the basis of their diploma, certificates, and/or examination results. Beijing World Youth Academy has a remarkable university admission record: Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University and Stanford University, as well as the leading Rhode Island School of Art and Design, Berkeley Conservatory of Music, Korean Academy of Higher Sciences and the University of Hong Kong.

Q7 :How can students enrolled in KWYA achieve their university entrance plan?
A:

Students can obtain an IB Diploma at KWYA and apply to overseas universities with this document. Moreover, our experienced university counselor guides students towards making the right choices in finding a suitable university and choosing an appropriate major according to their desired future  employment. 

Q8 :If students do not choose to go abroad after graduation from KWYA, can they take the College Entrance Examination in China?
A:

After completing their studies at KWYA in Kunming, students can obtain not only the Diploma recognized by highly ranked universities worldwide, but also a domestic certificate of middle and high schools issued by KWYA. They can then take the high school and college entrance examination for admissions into universities in China.

Q9 :How long will it take for studying at transition campus of KWYA? When will it be able to move to the new campus?
A:

The new campus address is south of Jin Dun Jun Yuan, Niu Tou Shan, Chenggong District, Kunming. It being built by the Municipal Bureau of Education and Chenggong District, and relocated to after official acceptance. The school is going to move to the new campus in August 2020, or the latest would be August, 2021.
